Day 1 / Arrival to Mexico City

Transfer from the airport to the Laila Hotel or similar

 

Day 2 / Frida Kahlo’s world and popular art

Breakfast at the hotel. The day will start with a visit to La Casa Azul, witness of the childhood of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and also meeting place of the intellectuals of the time. Afterwards lunch, including a Mescal-Tasting experience, will be served at Corazón de Maguey, a restaurant-mezcaleria serving traditional Mexican food, located at the Centennial Garden overlooking the Fuente de Los Coyotes. In the afternoon visit to San Ángel, a nearby charming neighborhood, to experience the feeling of moving to a colonial era through its cobbled streets including time at leisure at the Plaza de Los Artesanos that is full of life with the bazaar that use to take place on Saturdays.

 

Day 3 / Hidden jewels

Breakfast at the hotel. This day begins with a visit to the Palacio de Bellas Artes to enjoy a first encounter with the Mexican muralism, a symbol of national identity. Afterwards we will stroll through the streets of The Historic Center until we reach The Plaza de la Consitución, known as El Zócalo, and some of its surrounding buildings such as the Palacio Nacional, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Templo Mayor.  The gastronomic experience of today is from the height of a terrace with more than 500 years of history and an unparalleled view in the restaurant of La Casa de las Sirenas. In the afternoon, before returning to the hotel, a nice walk through the emblematic Tacuba Street with enough time to enjoy a delicious typical concha dulce and café con leche to finish the tour at La Alameda.

 

Day 4 / Learn the secrets of the Mexican cuisine

Breakfast at the hotel. Today’s adventure will start at the Mercado de Medellin, where we will be led by our chef to discover the world of mole, chilli peppers, native fresh fruits and the process of Nixtamalization used by the Aztecs. At the Casa Jacaranda we will learn the secrets of preparing an authentic Mexican meal using Molcajete and Metate, to grind and mix. At the end of the class we will be treated to a sumptuous feast accompanied by an artisanal mescal, an ideal appetizer for this delicious meal, under a Jacaranda Tree.

 

Day 5 / From Pre-Hispanic Mexico to Contemporary Mexico

Breakfast at the hotel. This day is for Polanco, upscale neighborhood famous for its shopping and restaurants. The first stop will be at the Museum of Anthropology and History, at the Chapultepec Park too see, among other significant archaeological and anthropological artifacts, the Stone of The Sun, perhaps the most famous work of the Aztec sculpture. Continuation to Polanco to enjoy a true and signature gastronomical experience, made with Mexican products combining the use of ancestral and modern techniques, at one of the restaurants listed as the Latin America’s Best 50 restaurants in 2019. To conclude the day we will pay a visit “to a magical garden” where the senses are captivated with the art of botany. An olfactory and visual treat.

 

Day 6 / The Sun and the Moon...  and a dinner to remember

Breakfast at the hotel. Half day visit to Teotihuacán, archaeological site of the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. Return to the hotel in the afternoon to relax and prepare before leaving to conclude your trip with an unforgettable dinner of Contemporary, Festive and Colorful Mexican Food of the Chef Martha Ortiz, in a reserved and special place where the most important ingredient is passion, a restaurant that is distinguished by creativity in the culinary art.

 

Day 7 / Return home...

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport not included

The prices include:

Terms and conditions

 

Registration / Form of payment

• Subject to previous confirmation, reservation / registration must be accompanied by non-refundable deposit of 15% per person (Deposit of all companions sharing a room to be paid at the same time)

• Final payment must be made non-later than 60 days prior to schedule departure date of the program.

• Full payment is required for reservations made 60 days or less before departure date of the program.

• If final payment is not received within the required period, the tour operator reserves the right to cancel the reservation without previous notice and without recourse by the Customer.

• Deposit and final payment to Moreno Travel: Wire transfer, e-transfer or Interac are accepted. Payment can be made by credit card with a 4% convenient fee.

Cancellation

In the case of cancellation a refund of the Customer's package (excluding deposit which is not refundable)  depends on the number of days between the cancellation and the program's departure day as follow:

 

• 60 to 45 days prior to the program's departure date: 75% of the amount paid on top of the non-refundable deposit

• 44 to 31 days prior to the program's departure date: 50% of the amount paid on top of the non-refundable deposit

• 30 days or less prior to the program's departure date: No refund is applicable

Payment of 15% deposit for reservation/registration means acceptance of the above terms and conditions.

 

Travel Insurance and air tickets

It is highly recommended the purchase of travel insurance to cover against unexpected events such as trip cancellation, loss of or damage to baggage, medical and hospitalization costs abroad.
